Andrew has worked in the patent profession since 1992, qualifying as a patent attorney in 1996. He has worked both in private practice and as an in-house attorney in large technology companies.
He graduated with a System Engineering degree in 1986, which included industrial placements. After working in the CAD/CAM department of British Aerospace, he became an Examiner at the European Patent Office. He then worked for eight years for the Ministry of Defence obtaining patents in the fields of aircraft/engine systems, control and instrumentation. Afterwards, Andrew worked for seven years for Siemens handling patent applications in the fields of telecoms, computers and power generation, and 4 years in private practice. From 2012 to 2021, Andrew worked for Delphi/BorgWarner, specialising in automotive electronics and control, automotive radar applications and image processing techniques for self -driving applications, as well as in other electric vehicle technologies. Andrew has had success prosecuting work, including oral proceedings, opposition and appeals (e.g. T2352/10). He is fluent in written and technical German.
In his spare time Andrew likes forest running, swimming and fishing
